Fridge and Freezer Safety

  • The proper temperature for a refrigerator is 40 degrees F maximum. Food should not be stored in temperatures between 40 degrees F and 140 degrees F, which promotes bacteria growth.
  • Freezers should be set at a temperature of 0 degrees F. Regularly check refrigerator and freezer temperatures with a kitchen thermometer.
  • Read food labels for storage recommendations. Don’t risk consuming food items that have not been properly stored.
  • Watch those expiration dates!
